The evolution of the typical American diet towards processed foods or better referred to as food-like products or manmade creations is the single biggest demise to our weight and our health. As our processed food industry manipulates the foods we eat with additions and subtractions to make food more palatable while adding shelf life, the end-product, manmade creations have no value to our body at all.
These manipulations are made largely to the carbohydrate base of our food supply, making them readily available, easily consumed on the go, and highly addictive. In short, the majority of these foods, or what I refer to as manmade creations, are actually worse for us than eating straight sugar. Most of these so-called foods are even more quickly absorbed than sucrose (i.e., table sugar) making these processed products easily converted and stored in our body as fat.
Did you know that the typical American diet kills more people in our country every year than Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms put together?
So how did we get here?
By allowing our fast-paced lifestyles dictate the want for convenience over the need for proper nutrition. And I can assure you that our processed food giants see our want as their big payoff. I am 100 percent certain that our processed food giants, big agribusiness and the USDA aren’t going to jeopardize their profits for the benefit of our health and wellbeing.
So what’s the solution?
We must change the relationship we have with the processed (man-made creations) that have now become the staple of our everyday diet and go back to our evolutionary roots. By changing this landscape we will then be able to eat our way back out of the very epidemic we’ve eaten our way into.
Eating REAL FOOD is our solution and the only medicine we need.
