True sustained behavioral change is an important key to long lasting and permanent weight loss as well as better health. A way to finding this is by dialing in on the all-important WHY – meaning why you are doing it in the first place. If you’re doing it for a high school reunion, a wedding or going on a vacation chances are extremely HIGH that it will be very short lived. If your WHY isn’t strong enough it simply won’t be enough too sustain the move. It can’t be something as simple as you want to fit better in a pair of jeans, it needs to go much deeper than that. So, dig deep and identify your WHY.
Avoid the temptations of quick fixes which are everywhere nowadays. You may lose weight quickly by using crash diets, pills, powders, or trying to exercise insanely for hours on end. The problem is, these are completely unsustainable over an extended period of time and you will quickly end up either back where you started or in an even worse position.
The number one reason people don’t make a commitment to losing weight or better health is they say they don’t have the time. There is 168 hour in a given week and you only need to dedicate 2 to 3 hours of those to yourself in order to achieve your goal. If you say you have no time but are watching TV and hour a day or playing on Facebook or twitter then saying you have no time is simply an excuse that will keep you from taking action.
Another excuse many people use is the predisposition of their genes or hereditary factors as the reason why they are in their current situation. Thinking this way will literally keep you from breaking the cycle of your story or history ‘YES’ the thing you think you’ve been cursed with. This will give you paralysis from taking steps to change the landscape of your future based on the beliefs of your past. Breaking this cycle will open up a new future not only for you but your children and the many generations to follow.
Anyone that’s waiting for the ideal time to hit the gas and make a change will be waiting forever because there is always the next big thing happening in life or that next big event that will be holding you back. Maybe you’re speculating on a time when the kids go back to school or when life slows down just a little more or when business or work is more manageable.
We must all come to realize that there is never going to be an ideal time. Equally so, you are not going to go from level one to level ten with your fitness and nutrition habits. Slow transitions that are done repetitively will add up to big things over time. Small steps will ultimately lead you to the victory of your success.
